The flagship Grenache based blend named after the famed Philosopher Pierre Ablard to reflect its forceful, brooding intensity and showcase the opulence and concentration of the old-vine Grenache, with the addition of some Syrah to add to the complex structure.
The Ablard exhibits a deep, brilliant garnet color. Fresh and fruity, with aromas of mocha, cherry and woody note. On the palate, it opens with a sweet profile, featuring a smooth texture and a well-balanced structure. The finish is rich and lengthy.
Located on the same latitude as Chteauneuf-du-Pape and nestled in the hills of Les Dentelles de Montmirail, Chne Bleu has the highest elevation in the region at 550-630 meters. The resulting cool nights and late harvest bring desirable Northern Rhne-style’freshness to the Southern Rhne’s rich concentration of fruit and tannin.
Blessed with a confluence of natural factors, Chne Bleu has the benefit of an exceptional location, multifaceted geology, and a southern Rhne climate with soils more typical of the northern Rhne.Isolated and protected, high in a mountain saddle, Chne Bleu has its provenance in a unique, four-corner borderland of the dpartement of Vaucluse in the southern Rhne, where the boundaries of Gigondas, Ctes du Ventoux, Ctes du Rhne, and Sguret come together. This area is located in the foothills of Mont Ventoux, 550 to 630 meters above sea level, on the northern slopes of a spectacular limestone outcropping known as the Dentelles de Montmirail, from the Latin ‘Mons Mirabilis,’ meaning ‘Lace of Marvelous Mountains.’ It enjoys an exceptional terroir due to this pristine, remote location and its complex geology, with many exposed strata of rock.
