IDDA Etna Rosso is the refined red wine made at IDDA from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes, cultivated on the south-facing slopes and north-facing slopes of Mount Etna. Representing the Gaja and Graci families partnership, this wine showcases the volcanic terroir with subtle finesse. It offers aromas of red berries, wild herbs, and spices, complemented by silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a mineral backbone, a harmonious expression of Mount Etna’s southern slopes.

Concentrated notes of juniper, graphite, cinchona, and orange lead to delicate rose on the finish. Very intense and spicy, with a warm, enveloping aroma. Tamarind, carob, and date emerge in the mouth. Creamy and enveloping. Straight tannins, medium-bodied, fresh, and flowing.

IDDA is a joint venture between Angelo Gaja and Alberto Graci on Mount Etna that started in 2016. The Graci family is a prominent winemaker in the region. The vineyards are located on the southern slope of the volcano, with a wide range of altitudes, exposures and soil types. Today, the winery owns 50 acres of vineyards at 2,000-2,600 ft a.s.l, in the villages of Belpasso and Biancavilla. The winery was built in Belpasso and welcomed its first harvest in 2023. IDDA means she in the Sicilian dialect, which is the term local residents use torefer to the Etna volcano. The wines’ labels are evocative of multiple aspects of the local terrain such as the colors of the lava and of the sea, the tridimensional altitude of the mountain and the terraces of the vineyards.

IDDA is the merging of two families: the Gaja family and the Graci family who decided to form a partnership in 2017. Located in the southern slopes of Mount Etna, the families own vineyards in the villages of Belpasso and Biancavilla.’IDDA’ means ‘she’ in the Sicilian dialect, which is the term local residents use to refer to the Etna volcano. The wines labels are evocative of multiple aspects of the local terrain such as the colors of the lava and of the sea, the tridimensional altitude of the mountain, and the terraces of the vineyards. The spiral is an ancient symbol that captures cyclic continuity, expansion, and development.
